The President extends greetings to the Japanese Emperor and Prime Minister on the 55th anniversary of Maldives-Japan relations

In his message to H.M. Naruhito, President Solih stated that over the course of these past decades, Japan has proven to be one of the Maldives’ most steadfast and reliable development partners. He said that Japan’s immense contribution to the social and economic progress of the Maldives has brought significant transformation to the upskilling of the Maldivian workforce, as well as the health and wellbeing of our communities and their empowerment. He conveyed the continued commitment of the Government of Maldives to further strengthen Maldives-Japan ties.

President Solih stated in a separate message to Prime Minister H.E. Fumio Kishida that Maldives-Japan relations have flourished over the decades due to the common commitment to democracy, peace, and human rights, and ensuring that the benefits of development are felt by all segments of society. He also stated that the high-level bilateral cooperation between the two countries is supported by people-to-people contact.

He concluded his message by stating that the Government of Maldives looks forward to continuing to work with the Government of Japan to explore other mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.
